Welcome to the City of Lawrence’s Department of Law web page. The role of the Legal Department is to provide legal advice to City of Lawrence officials and the various city departments, boards and commissions.

In addition to providing legal advice and guidance to the City’s officials and boards, we prepare and review contracts and other legal documents for city government. We also represent the city in other legal matters ranging from zoning appeals and litigation to employment issues and negotiations.
