Grocery Store Locations

One of the keys to healthy eating is access to full service grocery stores that serve the entire community. Many Cities have food deserts where their lower income neighborhoods are not served by grocery stores. We have no such problem in Lawrence where we have an abundance of full service grocery stores both in the City and on our fringes. A list of these stores follow.Pioneering Healthy Communities

There are several keys to healthy grocery shopping:

  1. Shop the perimeter first. The perimeter of most stores are where the unprocessed more natural foods are located. This would include fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy would be located.
  2. Go the grocery store with a list and a plan. Spontaneous purchases tend to be of the high calory variety.
  3. Try not to shop when you are hungry; this tends to lead to bad food choices.
void convenience stores for food shopping.
