233rd anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard

August 7, 2023

Last Friday marked the 233rd anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard, Semper Paratus!

Mayor Collier along with city staff watched as the flag was raised by former Blue Star Banner recipient and retired Coast Guard Captain, Robert T. Hendrickson., Jr. His son, Lieutenant Garrett Hendrickson, is currently serving in the Coast Guard as a rescue helicopter pilot, and has a banner hanging on 56th Street in recognition of his service. Bob Hendrickson Sr., past rear Commodore of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and his wife Dee, Conference Administrator, watched proudly as their son hoisted the flag. They are a dedicated Coast Guard family! Chaplain Mel Keaton provided the blessing for the ceremony.

Thank you to all our “coasties”, we appreciate your service!
