April 18, 2019

The Lawrence Police Department will join the A & E Network's series, "Live PD" according to LPD Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff. Starting Friday, April 19 from 9 p.m. to midnight, every Friday & Saturday night through Summer 2019, LPD officers will be featured on the network show.
LPD will join "Live PD" is in its third season, currently underway. LPD Chief David Hofmann said, "This is not Hollywood...this is real life. This is a 'day-in-th-life' of Lawrence law enforcement. Calls for service are real and officers' actions and reactions are real." Hofmann said LPD officers will debut in the successful program's 200th episode Friday night.
“Live PD” showcases the policing of America, following diverse police departments from across the country in real time as they patrol their communities. The series captures the work of a varied mix of urban and rural police departments on a typical Friday and Saturday night. Host Dan Abrams, joined in-studio by law enforcement analysts Tom Morris Jr. and Tulsa PD Sgt. Sean “Sticks” Larkin, guide viewers through the activities, providing insight to what audiences are seeing in real time, bouncing between the featured police departments and offering an inside-look during each live episode.
In addition to the Lawrence Police Department, “Live PD” is currently following the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, the Warwick Police Department, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Salinas Police Department, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
“Our officers are looking forward to join their colleagues from around the country on “Live PD”, documenting the activities of law enforcement agencies, along with the “how”, and “why”, police agencies and officers perform their duties,” said Lawrence Chief of Police David Hofmann. “Live PD” offers viewers a unique insight into what occurs in every community on a daily and nightly basis,” concluded Chief Hofmann.
“Live PD” airs on the A&E Network Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to midnight.
