Street Responsibility Overview

Local Streets & Most Collector Roads (Green Lines on Map)

Responsible: City of Lawrence

- Street construction and reconstruction

- Pothole patching

- Snow & ice removal

- Curb, sidewalk, and drainage repairs

- Street cleaning and weed control

Major Thoroughfares (Red Lines)

Shared Responsibility: Indianapolis and Lawrence

- Lawrence: Routine maintenance (patching, snow removal, curb repairs)

- Indianapolis DPW: Major construction & reconstruction (resurfacing, widening, new bridges)

- Examples: 46th St, 62nd St, 71st St, Carroll Rd, Lee Rd, Oaklandon Rd

State Roads (Blue Lines)

Responsible: Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT)

- Full maintenance and construction

- Examples: Pendleton Pike (SR 67), I-465

Private Roads (Yellow Lines)

Responsible: Property Owners or HOAs

- Roads not maintained by the City
