Lawrence's dedicated fire team works 24-hour shifts across 3 rotations, providing round-the-clock emergency service out of Fire Stations 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40. LFD emergency vehicles cover a response area of 22 square miles, and they respond to more than 6,000 fire calls and an average of 7,000 EMS runs each year. Mayor Deborah Whitfield recently visited A-Shift with City of Lawrence Fire Department Chief Bob Wallace.
