Southport officer killed in the line of duty

Lieutenant Aaron Allan was shot and killed yesterday as he approached a vehicle crash near Madison Avenue and Southport Road. The vehicle had flipped and Lt. Allan, an officer from Johnson County Police, and an officer from Homecroft Police responded to assist the victims of the crash. As they approached the vehicle, one of the passengers in the vehicle fired on the officers. Lt. Allan was transported to Eskenanzi Hospital and did not survive his wounds. IMPD said a 28 year old male was arrested in the case.
