City breaks ground for Richardt and Sumac Lane projects

LFD Chief Dino Batalis, Wessler Engineering President Marty Wessler, Controller Jason Fenwick, Umbaugh's Christina DeWitt, Mayor Steve Collier, City Clerk Kathy Walton, Utilities Superintendent Scott Salsbery, Councilor Bob Jones, LPD Chief David Hofmann, DPW Director of Streets Dave Lotts, DPW Director of Code Enforcement, and Corporation Counsel David Johnson took part in the ceremonial groundbreaking at the Richard Water Treatment Plant.

Lawrence Utilities personnel and city officials gathered at the Richardt Water Treatment Plant August 1 to break ground on the new improvements located at 5450 Richardt. LU Superintendent Scott Salsbery welcomed the group to the ceremonial groundbreaking for the Richardt project and the Sumac Lane project which begin this month.

Mayor Steve Collier thanked Salsbery for his leadership and institutional knowledge about the waterworks for Lawrence. He noted Salsbery’s dedication to informing residents of Lawrence about the need for infrastructure improvements for the utilities. The mayor said the recent rate increase will provide the funds for the utilities.

Utilities Service Board (USB) President Steve Hall, USB Vice President Dale Tekippe, USB Member Terry Gingles and USB Member Tracey Boyd joined the ceremony.
