City hosts successful "A Lawrence Christmas" and Tree Lighting

December 2, 2019

Despite the dire weather predicted over the weekend, we lucked into a dry night for our eighth annual “A Lawrence Christmas” celebration. Children got to visit with Santa Claus and take their picture with the Grinch. Inside the Sterrett Center at the Kid’s Zone, families enjoyed face painting, ornament decorating, coloring contests, and a Santa’s mailbox. A Christmas Parade began at dusk with floats created by the different departments in the City of Lawrence. Then, the Master of Ceremonies and Chief Meteorologist at Fox 59 News Brian Wilkes hosted special performances by Lawrence Township Schools students. The wonderful evening concluded with the lighting of the Lawrence Christmas Tree.
