Upcoming Work on 79th Street Bridge Over Fall Creek

April 2, 2020

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) expects to begin work on or after April 15 to rehabilitate the 79th Street bridge over Fall Creek. While no full closure is planned, traffic will see lane restrictions in both directions and the use of a temporary traffic signal during construction. Weather permitting, the bridge is expected to be complete by August 1.

The more than $480,000 project will repair the bridge deck overlay, replace expansion joints and repave portions of the street surface.

The work is one of many essential DPW capital and road improvement projects currently underway in Indy. Contractors are taking specialized precautions while working, including maintaining the CDC-recommended six-foot distance, to ensure personal safety and to comply with social distancing guidelines.
