246th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps

Semper Fi!  Mayor Collier, LPD K-9 Patrol Officer Jon Clark, and City of Lawrence staff gathered this morning to raise the flag and honor the 246th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.  Chaplain Mel Keaton provided the blessing for the ceremony.  Raising the flag today was LPD K-9 Patrol Officer, Jonathan Clark, who served in the Marine Corps from 1989 to 1994 as a Corporal in the Military Police.  LN graduate and resident of Lawrence, Jon has been with LPD for over 20 years, serving in capacities with SWAT (15 years), Honor Guard Charge (since 2005), and K-9 Patrol Officer since 2008. The City of Lawrence proudly hangs Blue Star banners of 10 deployed Marine Corps service members.
