Common Council

Lawrence City Council has nine members, six elected by district and three at-large. We know you will find our city has much to offer, whether you live, work or do business here.

As the elected legislative arm of city government, we work to approve the annual budget and various ordinances that keep our city growing and poised for an even greater future. As your representatives, we are always interested in your thoughts and suggestions. Please feel to call your council member with any questions or concerns.

We also welcome you to attend our regular council meetings. Council approves the annual city budget and reviews dozens of proposed ordinances every year as well proposing its own. Each council member also serves on various committees that concentrate on specific issues that affect our city.
