Census 2010Over the next few months, you will be hearing more about the Census through the media, newsletters, and our Web site. Your participation in the 2010 Census is vital because it determines the amount of federal funds our city will receive. These funds are important because they are used to support everything from road construction to the hiring of additional police and firefighters. Please make sure that in the 2010 Census... you count!!!

Road Closing Notification

Lee Road will be closed between 56th Street and 59th Street starting Wednesday, July 1st and should be re-opened by Monday, July 6th. Access will be open for local traffic only.

Lawrence Police Department to Seek Edward J. Byrne Grant

The Lawrence Police Department is participating in the Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant application process in order to purchase much needed equipment. Please read the entire story to learn more.

Fireworks in the City of Lawrence

Consumer fireworks in the City of Lawrence may only be used on user’s private property between 5 p.m. and two hours after sunset on June 29, 30, July 1 – 3, and 5-9; July 4 between 10 a.m. and 12 a.m. midnight.

Curfew for Minors

Summer break is soon approaching, which means many teens will be out and about during the evening hours. When is it time to go home? Curfew for minors under the age of 15 years is 11 p.m. everyday.
