Join the Lawrence Police Department Citizen Academy – 2025
The Lawrence Police Department is excited to offer the 2025 Citizen Academy, an 11-week program designed to enhance understanding between law enforcement and the community. Starting on March 6, 2025, this free program provides citizens with a unique opportunity to learn about police operations, participate in hands-on scenarios, and engage directly with officers. The Academy meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lawrence Police Department.
Participants will gain valuable insights into various aspects of law enforcement, including criminal investigations, crisis negotiation, use of force, crime scene processing, and more. Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to interact with officers, attend special presentations, and complete a ride-along with a patrol officer.
Applications for the 2025 Citizen Academy will be accepted from December 30, 2024, through February 7, 2025. To apply, download the application form below, complete it, and submit it to the Lawrence Police Department. Participants must be at least 21 years old to apply.
The Citizen Academy is a great way to learn more about the role of the police in our community and build stronger relationships with those who serve. We look forward to your participation!
