Celebrate Juneteenth in Lawrence
June 13, 2025

The City of Lawrence invites you to join us for two meaningful events as we celebrate Juneteenth 2025 at the Fort Ben Cultural Campus.
Thursday, June 19 | 4:00 – 7:00 PM
Fort Ben Farmers Market + “The Story of Greenlawn Cemetery” Exhibit
Browse fresh local goods at the weekly Fort Ben Farmers Market—and take time to explore a powerful traveling exhibit just steps away.
“The Story of Greenlawn Cemetery” shares the history of one of Indianapolis’ earliest Black cemeteries. Based on in-depth reporting by Mirror Indy journalist Emily Hopkins, the exhibit tells how two major construction projects disrupted this historic burial ground—and highlights the community’s ongoing work to honor those laid to rest.
Featuring:
• Illustrated portraits by artist Shaunt’e Lewis
• Archival photos and a historical timeline
• QR codes linking to interviews with community advocates
The exhibit will be on display June 18–23 and is free to visit during public hours or by appointment.
To schedule a visit outside of public hours, email: leciafloyd@artsforlawrence.org
Saturday, June 21 | 4:00 – 8:00 PM
