New Sand Volleyball Court Coming to Lee Road Park
August 13, 2025

The City of Lawrence Parks Department is adding a brand-new feature to Lee Road Park — a sand volleyball court!
Crews are currently preparing the site, and sand will be delivered soon. The nets are scheduled to be installed in approximately two weeks, giving residents a fun new way to enjoy the outdoors before summer wraps up.
Located at 6200 Lee Road, Lee Road Park is already one of Lawrence’s most vibrant community spaces, offering:
- Pickleball courts
- A paved nature trail
- A playground for all ages
- A dedicated Butterfly & Pollinator Habitat supporting local wildlife with native plants
- A colorful mural created in 2024 by Lawrence North High School students, celebrating the park’s natural beauty
- A new pedestrian trail, funded by a $1.7 million grant, connecting the park to Fort Harrison State Park, Forest Glen Elementary School, and surrounding neighborhoods
With picnic areas, natural spaces, and a growing list of amenities, Lee Road Park continues to be an ideal destination for families, friends, and nature enthusiasts alike.
