MAYOR DEB WHITFIELD APPOINTS CITY CONTROLLER

Experienced leader brings solid fiscal knowledge to Lawrence 

LAWRENCE, IN - Mayor Deb Whitfield announced today the appointment of Terri Leah Falker as City Controller for the City of Lawrence. Falker begins her duties leading the City’s Finance Department today.

Controller Falker brings over twenty years of accounting expertise, encompassing cost accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, budgeting, and in-depth financial reporting. She also has experience in accounting supervision in both the public and private sectors. 

Falker most recently served as Director of Finance for Indiana Black Expo, Inc. Prior to that, she was a Senior Staff Accountant at Engaging Solutions LLC. She brings a wealth of public sector experience, having served as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Indianapolis Department of Public Safety, as well as serving as Chief Financial Officer of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission.

Falker takes over from outgoing Interim Controller Humphrey Nagila.

“We welcome Terri to our team and thank Humphrey for his service”, stated Mayor Whitfield. “Terri will pick up seamlessly working with the entire finance department, in the preparation of the 2026 Civil City Budget”.
