Lawrence marks historic 70th birthday of U.S. Air Force

Paul Norton, retired, U.S. Air Force and Captain of the Historic Fort Benjamin Harrison Post 510 Color Guard and Chaplain Greg Isaacs joined Mayor Steve Collier, Blue Star Banner Coordinator Mary Jo Rothenbush and many city officials for the raising of the USAF flag this morning at the Lawrence Government Center. Today is the 70th anniversary of the USAF. It became a separate branch of military service September 18, 1947. THE USAF mission is to "fly, fight and win...in air, space and cyberspace."
