Greenlawn Cemetery Exhibit Comes to Lawrence
May 28, 2025

Discover the powerful history of one of Indianapolis’ earliest Black cemeteries. “The Story of Greenlawn Cemetery” is a traveling exhibit featuring:
• Illustrated portraits by Central Indiana artist Shaunt’e Lewis
• A historical timeline and archival photos
• QR codes linking to video and audio interviews with community advocates
Based on in-depth reporting by Mirror Indy journalist Emily Hopkins, the exhibit explores how two major construction projects disturbed a historic burial ground—and the community’s ongoing efforts to honor those laid to rest.
