LFD unveils new ladder truck

Mayor Steve Collier and Lawrence Fire Chief Dino Batalis unveiled the newest addition to the Lawrence Fire Department’s fleet at a dedication ceremony March 15 at Station 38. After Batalis’ opening remarks, Mayor Collier called dispatch and Ladder 38 was officially placed into service.

Shortly after, Chaplain Mel Keaton blessed and read a Psalm for safety of the men and women who will use the new fire apparatus. Then, firefighters and EMS pushed the new ladder truck into its new home.

"My thanks goes to Mayor Collier and City Controller Jason Fenwick for their continued support of the Lawrence Fire Department and public safety in general," said Chief Batalis. "This new ladders will allow our firefighters to respond safely and quickly to help protect lives and property in Lawrence,” he added.
