LPD & LFD host Community Safety Day

Lawrence's public safety officers worked together to host the annual Community Safety Day on Saturday at Station 40. Lawrence's police and fire departments hosted booths throughtout the event to showcase their services to the city. Coordinator LiAnn Wolfe recruited vendors for the free event.

Wolfe said departments from the city hosted booths as well as safety vendors who provided information to visitors. LPD grilled hot dogs throughout the event and provided more than 500 lunches. The IU Health Lifeline helicopter visited the site, as well as the mounted police unit. Public safety officers demonstrated an auto extrication. Bike helmets were fitted and given to children attending the event, a donation from Flanner & Buchanan.
