Make preparations for predicted winter storm
January 11, 2019

As Lawrence DPW crews will be treating the streets and plowing if accumulative snow arrives, it's helpful if vehicles are not parked on the streets, so the roads can be cleared for convenience and necessity. If possible, be sure to move vehicles to driveways so the road can be cleared.
Fire Chief Dino Batalis said first responders will need to safely navigate the streets, even if poor weather conditions exist. "Our crews will be out to clear the roads and treat them, because we want to be sure first responders can answer calls for emergencies," he said.
DPW Director of Streets Jim Heneghan said, "Our crews are laying the brine today, to prepare for the predicted snow. We're out today to be sure all primary roads are treated." He also said residents who live in cul de sacs should not park on the streets, as the excess snow may be piled in the cul de sacs. Heneghan said snow will not block driveways, mailboxes or fire hydrants.
