Mayor Collier names Steans Director of Office of Minority and Women Business Development

Immediately following his State of the City address to the Chamber of Commerce at The Garrison this morning, Mayor Steve Collier signed an executive order creating the Office of Minority and Women Business Development. In the order, he named HR Director Dawnita Steans the first director of the office. Steans said, "This is an important step for the City. I'm proud to accept this appointment and to have the opportunity to influence development in this important area." "I want to aid the city in developing further partnerships with women and other minority-owned businesses. It's an honor to be a part of this inclusive initiative in Lawrence," Steans said.
