Detention Tanks Delivery

July 12, 2021

Two large detention tanks were delivered to our new Fort Harrison Water Treatment Plant.

The aerator/detention tanks are used to aerate the raw water coming in from the wells. This is the first step in the treatment process. The aeration begins the oxidation process to convert soluble iron and manganese to solid particulate matter, which are then removed by the subsequent filtration process. This aeration process also strips hydrogen sulfide gas from the water. Due to the particular hydraulics of the Fort Harrison Water Plant site, the aerator units had to be mounted on above-ground detention tanks.
