David Hofmann

Chief of Police, appointed by Mayor Collier to lead LPD January 1, 2016

  • Began his career in 1997 with the Indianapolis Police Department and retired as IMPD's Southwest District Commander to accept the Lawrence Chief of Police post
  • Chief Hofmann is a 1992 graduate of Indiana University, holds a Graduate Certificate from the University of Virginia, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Public Safety at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis
  • He is a graduate of the 250th FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, and the IMPD Leadership Academy, 2010-01
  • He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Indiana Association of Chief of Police, and the FBI National Academy Associates

Gary Woodruff

Deputy Chief of Police, serving Lawrence since 2000

  • Responsible for executive oversight of operations, investigations and training
  • Chief Media Relations/Public Information Officer
  • Served in the U.S. Army Military Police/CID, 1983-86, in Europe and at Ft. Harrison

Curtis Bigsbee

Deputy Chief of Police, serving Lawrence since 2005

  • Responsible for administrative division, professional standards, crime watch & grant coordinator
  • Government Affairs Liason & Special Events Coordinator
  • Indiana National Guard Veteran, graduate of Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and Leadership Academy

Captain, serving Lawrence since 2007

  • LPD Administration Division Commander, responsible for the Traffic Unit, Explorer Program and LPD Fleet
  • Motorcycle Officer, SWAT Team, & Leadership Academy Graduate

Erika Schneider

Captain, serving Lawrence since 1998

  • Professional Standards Divison Commander, responsible for policy & procedure policies, internal investigations, & hiring/promotion process
  • Graduate of the 99-139 Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and 231st FBI National Academy

Timothy Steele

Captain, serving Lawrence since 1998

  • Operations Division Commander, SWAT Team Commander, LPD Training Commander
  • Served in the U.S. Army from 1989-1998 with the 10th Mountain Division and at Ft. Harrison

Mark Osborn

Captain, serving Lawrence since 1996

  • Investigations Division Commander, oversees all aspects of Criminal & Violent Crimes Investigations
  • Founding Member of LPD's SWAT team, graduate of Indiana State University in Criminal Justice

LiAnn Wolfe

Public Safety Telecommunications Director, serving Lawrence since 2012

  • Serves dual role as executive assistant to Chief Hofmann and directs the telecommunications team
  • Graduate of Indiana University in Anthropology and Archeology
