Black Men in White Coats Youth Summit

On Saturday, Mayor Deb Whitfield attended Indiana's 3rd Annual Black Men in White Coats Youth Summit at Lawrence North High School.

This event brought together students, parents, educators, health care professionals, and community leaders to promote future careers in healthcare.

During the summit, Mayor Whitfield read a proclamation highlighting the critical need to increase the representation of Black men in the medical field. With only 3% of physicians in the U.S. identifying as Black men, this initiative is essential for improving community health, as research shows that Black patients often experience better health outcomes when treated by Black doctors.
