Never forget and always remember, how you got to where you are

February 1, 2023

"I celebrate Black History Month because it shows accomplishments African Americans have made over the years through trials and tribulations. Even today we have struggles but we are in a better spot now than 50 and 60 years ago. I was fortunate to have help from people of multiple races. For me, it’s important to help African American people first, due to the struggles and opportunities that may not come our way. I’m indebted to help.

At times African Americans are highlighted in a negative matter. This goes back to slavery; it was rough for our ancestors.  We are known to be one of the smartest races and we as African American must strive to stick together. Never forget and always remember, how you got to where you are." - Tracey Cantrell, Lawrence Police Department
