Mayor, Chamber of Commerce recognize LFD Chief Batalis for charity work

Last night, at the Chamber of Commerce's holiday party, Mayor Steve Collier and Chamber Director Trace Yates thanked LFD Chief Dino Batalis for his 30 years of service leading the Firefighters Assistance Fund he founded in 1988. Beginning by helping three families with groceries and toys the first year, the firefighters now assist 200 families during the holiday season with boxes of groceries and a selection of toys for children. Toys may be donated through December 13 at the Lawrence Government Center outside the Public Assembly Room.
