Lawrence Utilities Wins ACEC Indiana Engineering Excellence State Finalist Award

February 4, 2021

The City of Lawrence Utilities’ Phase I Water System Improvements project is being recognized with a state finalist award by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Indiana.

The overall project goal was to expand and renovate the community’s water system and infrastructure allowing enhanced water capacity and service to improve Lawrence residents’ quality of life.

With the Richardt Water Treatment Plant unable to keep up with community demand with the two-million-gallons-per-day (MGD) it produced, Lawrence officials partnered with Wessler Engineering on a complete analysis of the City’s water system. After two years of construction, the renovated plant now has the capacity to produce 4.32 MGD of safe, reliable, clean, potable water. The project also included improvements to Indian Lake and Fort Harrison wellfields, refurbishing the Oaklandon tank and water distribution system.

ACEC’s Engineering Excellence Awards program recognizes engineering achievements which demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. ACEC Indiana will host a virtual awards event in April.

The Wessler Engineering team congratulates City of Lawrence leaders and utilities staff on their well-deserved recognition!
