Telecommunicator of the Year 2021

May 4, 2023

Congratulations to Mike Clark for being awarded the LPD Telecommunicator of the Year for the year 2021, and sorry for being a year behind on posting this!
Mike’s dedication and consistency in his position as a telecommunicator for over 18 years was reflected in the comments submitted from the public safety team and presented by LPD Chief Gary Woodruff:
“He is professional, and knowledgeable. He is able give the officers the information needed as they are en route to a particular run.”
“Mike has helped me and the rest of FIS (Fire Investigations Section) countless times in sending us needed CAD, 911 calls and if the need arises the police reports for fires we are investigating. When you listen to the radio whether it be police or fire, Mike is always thinking ahead and will usually have the answers to the next question or relay valuable information pertaining to the run. Mike has helped me personally countless times with the mobile client, for me it can be confusing at times because I can log in as fire or police and when something goes wrong Mike is always able to get me out of the jam I get in. Mike has a good working relationship with Motorola and knows our radio system both for fire and police, which is confusing enough since they are two different animals.”
“Every time I need anything at all he immediately takes care of it and he is my go to for everything dispatch or CAD related. He always answers his phone and if he doesn’t have an answer he finds it out ASAP and as you may or may not know I hate waiting so he is greatly appreciated by me!”
“This guy goes above and beyond just sending us out the door. Provides up to date information while enroute and is always thinking ahead.”
Mayor Steve Collier, Deputy Mayor Dave Hofmann, Chief of Staff Cori Korn, LPD Chief Gary Woodruff, LFD Chief Dino Batalis, and Director of 911 Communications LiAnn Wolfe presented the award.
