Family Moves into New Habitat for Humanity Home

August 19, 2025

On Friday, Briana Bennett and her son officially moved into their new Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity home in Lawrence. The celebration was filled with family, friends, neighbors, volunteers, and community partners who came together to mark this special milestone.

Mayor Deb Whitfield, along with members of the City’s Housing Ready Task Force, joined in welcoming the Bennetts to the neighborhood.

Habitat for Humanity provides homeownership opportunities to families who may not qualify for traditional financing. By using donated land, materials, and volunteer labor, the cost of construction is kept low. Homeowners then contribute 200 hours of “sweat equity,” working on the construction of their home and others while completing homeownership education.
