City of Lawrence Water Meter Replacement
November 19, 2021

Starting Monday November 22, 2021, NECO will begin the 2500 water meter change out program. Those in the meter change out program area should have received a letter prior to the start of their area with the following information.
The City of Lawrence is replacing existing water meters with a state-of-the-art meter reading system. The new meters will greatly improve the City’s operational efficiency and level of customer service.
The City has contracted with NECO to install the water meters. NECO installers and vehicles will be clearly identified with the image below. There is no cost for the new water meter and no action is required. The installation will take approximately 30 minutes and water service will be disconnected during that time. The installer will attempt to notify the homeowner before beginning any work at the premise.
NECO can be reached (toll free) at 1-800-624-6975 Monday-Friday 8 am - 6 pm and Saturday 10 am - 2 pm to answer any questions regarding the upcoming water meter replacement project.
COVID 19 Precautions
NECO and the City of Lawrence have a high priority for the safety of everyone involved with this project. Both NECO and the City will follow federal, state and local guidelines regarding COVID 19. All of our policies and procedures comply with the Center for Disease Control guidelines and recommendations.
Residents are asked to maintain social distancing when the NECO installer completes the installation.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete this much needed work!
