"He served for nearly eleven years"
November 18, 2022

Thank you for your lifetime of dedicated service to our nation, and to our community, Captain Tim Steele!
Lawrence Police Department Captain of Operations Timothy R. Steele started his career of service and protection of others in the United States Army in 1989. After completing basic training, he was assigned to the 534th MP Company, third platoon. He served for nearly eleven years in the Army and Army National Guard, with deployments in Operation Just Cause in Panama, and in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt and the Federal Republic of Somalia, Africa to name a few.
Upon his honorable discharge from military service, he joined the LPD as a patrol officer and climbed the ranks to his current position, overseeing all aspects of uniform police patrol operations right here in Lawrence.
