The road to happiness is paved with acts of kindness.

"An inspiring woman in history that I look up to is Eva Mozes Kor. She was a Holocaust survivor and peace advocate who lived in Indiana for most of her life. Despite living through unimaginable horrors as a ten-year-old girl, Eva was able to work through her pain and forgive to set herself free. She started the CANDLES Holocaust Museum, traveled the world sharing her story and gave annual tours of Auschwitz.
Eva was strong, funny, wise and courageous. Her messages were simple yet powerful.
“What one thing can you do to make the world better?”
“The human mind is like a garden. If you plant flowers, weeds will not grow.”
“Forgiveness is a seed for peace.”
I was fortunate enough to have the chance to get to know Eva and help share her messages through the Ted Green Films/WFYI documentary “Eva: A-7063” and Eva Education Program & VR Experience. Eva passed away in 2019, but her spirit and strength continue to impact people around the world, including me.
Of all her messages, the two that have stuck with me the most are, “If I can help heal one single person, I’m already happy,” and “The road to happiness is paved with acts of kindness.” I think that is the definition of strength. Humbling yourself to help another person and recognizing that no act of kindness is too small or insignificant. You can learn more about Eva’s life and legacy by watching the documentary “Eva: A-7063” on Amazon Video or visiting the Indiana Historical Society exhibit, Eva Kor from Auschwitz to Indiana.“
