DC Woodruff addresses Chamber
November 3, 2016
Lawrence Deputy Police Chief Gary Woodruff met with members of the Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce November 3 to outline suggestions for workplace safety. Woodruff is a 16 year veteran of LPD and is the deputy chief of operations and investigations. In addition to those duties, Woodruff oversees media relations and is the liason with area public safety agencies.
Woodruff addressed the Chamber audience at the Boy Scout Crossroads of America Council Headquarters on Fall Creek Road. He suggested procedures for safety and answered questions afterward. "Like everything, law enforcement has changed since I began my career," he said. "Empathy is an important quality to have when dealing with perpetrators and victims. At one time, empathy was viewed as a weakness. In 2016, it's a necessary tool for strength in tough situations," he stated.
