Heat Advisory Extended

Extreme heat will continue across Lawrence and Marion County through Friday. Stay cool and stay safe!

Need relief from the heat?

The Fort Ben Branch of Indianapolis Public Library is open during regular hours and serves as a cooling center on dangerously hot days.

Quick Heat Safety Tips:

• Use A/C or reflective window coverings to keep cool indoors

• Watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke

• Drink plenty of water, even if you’re not active

• Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing

• Avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours

Looking for a splash pad?

While Lawrence doesn’t currently have one, Grassy Creek Regional Park (10510 E 30th St) nearby offers:

• A splash pad

• Restrooms & comfort station

• A state-of-the-art playground

• A brand-new Environmental Community Center (opened May 2025)

Grassy Creek Regional Park spans over 240 acres and continues to grow as a vibrant community space on the Far Eastside.

More cooling options:

During extreme weather, Indy Parks Family Centers are also available as cooling centers.
