Lawrence Clean Community Committee Named
Mayor Whitfield Welcomes Lawrence Clean Team
Lawrence, IN – Mayor Deb Whitfield today announced the members of the City’s Clean Team. After the City being named by the Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) as a member of their Clean Community Program, every Clean Community is required to assemble community stakeholders and staff to spearhead the membership projects – a group that IDEM calls the “Clean Team”.
Lawrence’s Clean Team members are: Renea Rafala, Lawrence DPW Director and MS4 Coordinator; Russell Brown, Attorney for the Lawrence Redevelopment Commission and member of the Fort Harrison Reuse Authority; Brad Klopfenstein, President of the Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce; Alex Lapinski, Manager, Municipal Relations, at Priority Waste; Brandon Warren, Lawrence resident and community activist; Jami Weirich, Lawrence Parks Department Events Coordinator; Glenn Johnson, Executive Vice President, Keys 2 Work; Kelley Ferguson, active Lawrence resident; Jim Perron, who is with the Mayor’s Office and will serve as the Team’s coordinator. The Team’s inaugural meeting will be held on Thursday, June 25th at 10am at Mayor Whitfield’s office.
Being an Indiana Clean Community Program member, the City of Lawrence is distinguished as one of a select group of cities, towns, and counties across Indiana willing to go above and beyond environmental requirements by implementing voluntary projects, committing to continuous improvement, and meeting stringent requirements for membership. “As Mayor, we are proud to be a Clean Community member and working with our Clean Team we look forward to a more sustainable future for Lawrence” Whitfield said.
