LPD Share Safety Information for July 4th Fest
June 29, 2026

Join the City of Lawrence as we celebrate our nation's 250th Anniversary of Independence this Fourth of July! We invite everyone to come out and enjoy a full day of family-friendly fun, community pride, and patriotic celebration.
The Independence Day Parade begins promptly at 10:00 a.m., so find your favorite spot along the parade route early and cheer on the participants as we celebrate America's historic milestone.
Following the parade, the festivities continue beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Lawrence Community Park. Enjoy great food, entertainment, activities for all ages, and don't miss the exciting kickball tournament. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with neighbors, friends, and family.
To help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone, please plan ahead. Arrive early, as parking will fill quickly. For the safety of all attendees, backpacks are discouraged and should not be brought into any of the 4th Fest events. Please also remember that parking will not be permitted along the parade route on July 4. Any vehicles parked in restricted areas or along the parade route will be towed at the owner's expense to allow for emergency vehicle access and the safe passage of the parade.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to celebrating this historic occasion with our community. Thank you for helping us make Lawrence's 250th Independence Celebration a safe, memorable, and enjoyable event for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you on July 4!
