Reminder: Lee Road Park Pickleball Courts Closed Saturday

The pickleball courts at Lee Road Park will be closed this Saturday, August 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the Bike Safety Course and free helmet giveaway during Community Safety Day 2026.

Join us at Lee Road Park (6200 Lee Rd.) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a day of community safety, first responders, demonstrations, and family activities, presented in partnership with the Lawrence Sunrise Kiwanis Club.

Event highlights include:
• 10:00 a.m. – Helicopter lands
• 11:15 a.m. – K9 Demonstration
• 11:45 a.m. – SWAT Demonstration
• 12:15 p.m. – Taser Demonstration
• 12:30 p.m. – Vehicle Extraction Demonstration
• 1:00 p.m. – Lawrence Fire vs. Lawrence Police Kickball Game
• 1:30 p.m. – Mayor’s Closing Remarks

Throughout the event, stop by the Lawrence Sunrise Kiwanis Bike Safety Course, meet local first responders, explore community resources, and enjoy free hot dogs while supplies last.
