Mayor Whitfield Welcomes Tracy Boyd to Lawrence Common Council

New Council Member Elected by Caucus Last Week

Mayor Deb Whitfield today expressed her welcome to Lawrence’s newest Council Member. Ms. Tracy Boyd was elected by a caucus of Lawrence Democratic Precinct Committee Members last Thursday evening at the Lawrence Government Center. Boyd replaces long-time Councilor Lisa Chavis who resigned from the Council late last year. Boyd was immediately sworn into office by Chavis’s husband, Marion County Superior Court Judge John Chavis.

“Councilor Boyd brings a record of municipal government experience having served most recently as Chairperson of the Lawrence Utility Service Board as well as a member of the Lawrence Storm Water Advisory Board” Mayor Whitfield said. “Tracy is a dedicated public servant and I both welcome her and look forward to working with her in her new role,” the Mayor expressed.
