Lawrence Fire Department plans live fire training

July 6, 2017

The Lawrence Fire Department will conduct live fire training exercises July 10-12.  The house scheduled to be burned is located at 11756 Verdin Street/63rd Street. Chief Dino Batalis said, “This is the best training you can offer a department, it’s a real working fire without as much danger and risk.” Batalis explained the live training exercises provide firefighters the opportunity to hone their skills and to be prepared for future calls.

DPW Director of Streets Dave Lotts said there will be road closures associated with this training. Lotts said the roads will be reopened every evening and each morning before the training exercises. DPW posted signage today for residents to plan their routes accordingly, he said.
