If you have an issue involving an animal, call Lawrence Animal Control. If no one answers, call 317-545-7575 and ask to have an animal control officer contact you. Call 911 for an emergency situation, such as an animal attack or bite.
If your pet is missing, check with Indianapolis Animal Care & Control at 2600 S. Harding St., where all strays picked up in Lawrence are taken. The shelter is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday except Wednesday, when it is open until 7 p.m. To request assistance or report animal abuse, call 327-4622; for general business, call 327-1397. You also may adopt cats and dogs at the shelter.
If you see a dead animal on a city street, call the Indianapolis Mayor’s Action Center at 317-327-4622 to have the carcass removed.
For problems with nuisance wildlife (coyote, racoon, oppossum, birds, bats, muskrats and the like) check the Department of Natural Resources web page for Nuisance Wildlife recommendations or contact one of many Animal Services listed in the Yellow Pages under Pest Control Services.
