U.S. Army celebrates 246th Anniversary with Flag Raising
June 14, 2021

"Thank you all for coming this morning so that we may raise the flag on this 14th day of June, 2021, to honor the 246th anniversary of the United States Army”, were the opening remarks heard this morning at the Lawrence Government Center.
Mayor Collier thanked Captain David Downing from the Metro North Army Recruiting Company along with Staff Sergeants Tominakah Tuamoheloa and Job Deharo, for assisting with the flag raising ceremony. They proudly wore the new uniforms recently adopted for Army personnel.
The blessing was provided by Chaplain Carl Thompson, U.S. Army (Ret). Grace Eckelbarger-McKillip beautifully sang the national anthem to conclude the ceremony. Today is also National Flag Day, which commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States that took place in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. Salute!
